Inclusive, affirming & safe
Your Door2 recovery starts here
We are so glad you found us.
At Door2 we don’t just talk about recovery from eating disorders—we live it.
We’re real, honest and ethical in everything we do. We listen and create time and space needed for recovery and do no harm. We are neurodiversity-affirming and deeply inclusive, ensuring the voices of everyone are heard and respected.
Our model is backed by years of hands-on experience, not just theory. We’ve been on the front lines, listening to people, learning from them, and building a recovery program that’s meaningful, effective, and leads to authentic, lasting recovery.
Put simply, it works!
Door 2 came from my desire to change the power imbalance that exists in the mainstream treatment system for eating disorders.
I know how harmful it is to be told your loved one is the problem—too much, too complex, too hard. That message leaves you, as an Insider or Carer, feeling deficient, broken or not enough. It’s shaming, and pushes your loved one away from support, not toward it.
In 50 years of working in education and eating disorders, I’ve learned that the starting point is to always meet people where they are at. To recognise how they process, understand, and interact with the world—and to see that they might experience things differently. It is our responsibility to adapt to meet individual needs—not the other way around.
Eating disorder behaviours are not acts of defiance or non compliance—they're a form of communication, a set of survival strategies for a world that feels overwhelming and unliveable. So when treatment makes life more unliveable—through control, coercion, or punishment—it doesn’t help, it does harm and pushes people toward the perceived safety of their eating disorder, not away from it.
Door 2 didn’t come from a grand plan, it grew from a simple intention–to offer something more humane. It’s a homegrown space, shaped by lived experience, filled with people who truly get it and support without judgement.
I’m really glad you’ve found us. You’re welcome here—always.
